DRINK MORE WATER
Water is the key to life! You probably hear this all the time and it seems like common sense but your body needs water! Did you know that without the proper amount of water, your organs cannot function the way they should? Drink 2 glasses of water as soon as you wake and 2 glasses of water before bed. This allows you to wake up your organs and help your heart and kidneys function better. It’s incredible how shifting your focus to just one new healthy habit can have a domino effect on your body, mind and life!
Pro tip: Add in some lemon vitality essential oil to your glass or stainless-steel container for a cleansing, refreshing treat.
SUPPLEMENT VITAMIN D
Vitamin D is one of the most important vitamins for your overall health. Many people in the United States, as well as worldwide, are not getting enough of this important vitamin. Vitamin D works as a kind of light switch in your body, turning on or off processes that your body needs to maintain health. Active Vitamin D is sent to many different areas of your body, including your bones, intestines, colon, brain, and immune cells. The best source for vitamin D is sunlight but extended exposure isn’t always possible. It is difficult to to get all the vitamin D you need from food, and since you don’t want to be exposed to too much sunlight, most people need short-time sun exposures and daily vitamin D supplements.
INCREASE ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants help prevent and fight against damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are caused by things like stress, pollution and poor diet and can actually cause damage to your cells which can result in disease and premature aging. Antioxidants help fight off these free radicals so it’s important to get enough antioxidants in your diet to stay healthy and feeling good. Foods high in antioxidants include wolfberries, blueberries, strawberries and spinach. Thanks to the ways we have added more antioxidants into our diet, I don’t remember the last time I have seen a doctor for anything other than a routine checkup!
Pro Tip: Find a superfruit, antioxidant drink to get all your daily needs quickly and easily. Great for kids too since they likely don’t eat enough antioxidant rich foods.
GET MORE SLEEP
Pro tip – Add some soothing essential oils to your diffuser to ease into restful sleep
WASH YOUR HANDS OFTEN
Hand washing with soap is an impactful way to maintain health by decreasing the risk of becoming infected with germs. It’s such a simple thing that we’ve been told since we were kids but how often do you actually remember to do it?! Germs are everywhere and the simple step of washing your hands frequently can help tremendously in staying healthy. Definitely, avoid fragrances and antibacterial soaps whenever possible. Many antibacterial liquid soaps contain triclosan as the active ingredient which is a known endocrine disruptor and a suspected carcinogen. There is good reason to believe that the over use of products with triclosan has contributed to bacterial resistance in the same way we are cautioned against the use of antibiotics.
Pro tip: Make your own hand soap using Castile soap and essential oils. This is one of our favorite DIYs!
