Savvy Minerals FAQ
Savvy Minerals has been released as a core collection with all of the basics you need to overhaul your routine and put your best foot forward. More products will be added throughout the year (mascara is coming soon!!). You can see the full product line here.
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is our makeup Organic?
A: Because minerals are inorganic, organic labeling on minerals is misleading.
Q: Does Savvy Minerals have a brush set?
A: Yes – they were recently released and are so soft! You will notice a huge difference when using these brushes with your Savvy Minerals.
Q: What is the shelf life of these products?
A: As a rule of thumb, once opened and you begin to use it, different factors contribute to the shelf life and deterioration of the pigment: humidity, light, brush cleanliness etc. Just general rule of thumb: use it within 12 months. Mascara once opened and used: 3 months (comes out end of summer sometime) Lips once opened and used: 6 months
Q: Are our products lead free?
A: Lead makes its way into cosmetics via synthetic dyes and lake dyes. Savvy Minerals has neither in their lip products, mica’s are used to color the lips (side note: which is why it’s REALLY hard to get a TRUE RED lipstick without dye.)
Q: Where is this product made?
A: Savvy Minerals is made in the USA.
Q: When would we use water or the spray to create foiling?
A: Foiling, helps the pigment to bind together so it gives you a REALLY deep dimension of the colors, and it really stays on well. Spray the eye shadow brush with the misting spray, then pick up the eye shadow and “paint” the eye shadow on for deep color dimension and lasting power. You can do the same with the eye liners to get a liquid eye liner look.
Q: Why can we not get red lip?
A: Red is only possible with synthetic dyes. It’s just really hard to create TRUE RED without synthetic dye or beetle guts.
Q: My foundation is almost out (perfect timing, am I right?!) but I’m rather nervous about matching my skin tone to order my soon-to-be new Savvy Minerals foundation! Any tips? Is there a reliable graphic to help?
A: On the dedicated Savvy Minerals website there is a section YL is working hard on to make this process easy. It explains really well how to tell if you have warm / cool undertone. From there, it’s best to choose “light” as it is most popular color and easiest to correct. So, Cool 2 or Warm 2 will most always be a safe bet unless you can tell from photo’s on Facebook as you try to help them, that they are more tan.
Q: Can you explain to me, in your professional skin care opinion, WHY the “other” mineral makeup makes me break out in pimples??? I’ve always felt bad not using it but just can’t make it work on my skin. Can you find an ingredient in the other one that Young Living doesn’t have that might have been causing that reaction?
A: Bismuth is a metal mineral that when worked into the pores, aggravates the pores and causes irritation and breakouts. Savvy Minerals does not contain Bismuth. Savvy Minerals by Young Living uses Arrowroot Powder and Kaolin Clay. Both are calming to the skin, help to absorb excess oil and moisture on the skin and make the skin feel silky smooth.
Q: Is the misting spray also a setting spray?
A: No it’s not and there is no need to set mineral makeup. It sets as it dries after you apply it wet from misting your brushes before application. Setting it after will cause your mineral makeup to dry blotchy.
Q: What is the return policy on the makeup?
A: The return policy for the makeup is the same as our regular return policy. • 30 Days or less after Ship Date (Unopened) – Refund (items and tax) to the same method of payment for the purchase price and applicable sales tax (less shipping charges). • 30 Days or less after Ship Date (Opened) – Credit on the member’s Young Living account for the purchase price and applicable sales tax (less shipping charges). • 31 – 90 Days after Ship Date (Opened or Unopened) – Credit on the Young Living account for the purchase price and applicable sales tax (less shipping charges and 10% handling fee). • Items over 90 days cannot be returned.
Q: Is this product Vegan?
A: Yes, this product is comprised of mineral-based ingredients and, therefore, is considered both vegetarian and vegan friendly, however, the lipsticks and the lip glosses have beeswax so they are not considered vegan.
